4 Lessons I Learned During My 4 Years Of Being Single

. . .

No. 1 | The Greatest Teacher of All Time: Silence and Solitude

I find happiness in silence and solitude; I’d never trade it for anything else in the world.

Silence and solitude taught me how to:
– Find internal flaws and fix problems
– Process feelings by asking ‘why’ questions and digging to the root for answers
– Reflect strategically
– Find peace in loudness

Silence and solitude helped me figure out what I want. It gave me the opportunity to listen to what I have to say about the type of life I expect and, in transmission, gave me the inspiration to make that life happen. Give yourself 6 months of silence and solitude, and your life will change.

It’s not easy, which is why not everyone knows what they want.

No. 2 | I would rather be alone than being with the wrong person

Being single taught me how to love myself and self-love showed me the type of love I deserve. As a result, I won’t be settling for any love less than what I already give myself. I would much rather be alone than be with someone who makes me feel lonely.

Learn how to put yourself first and live your beautiful life.

No. 3 | Don’t take love so seriously

Let me clarify, committing to the person you love is serious. But love itself? Not so serious. Love is love, don’t make it any more complicated than that. It is abundant and it’s fun to give. Sure, love can hurt you, but it allows you to grow. Hate makes you bitter and it locks you in prison.

I also learned that our understanding of love is constantly changing. One minute you want this, the next minute you want that. You think you know what you want, but you really don’t. Love is fluid so stop trying to figure it out. Love will be whatever it wants and needs to be during different periods of your life.
Love has your back when you let it be.

When you stop taking love seriously, your life will exponentially become better and lighter.

No. 4 | I am everything I need

The single life transformed into a self-sufficient and reliable person. I can trust myself to make the right decision and to take care of myself. I’ve become my own mentor, cheerleader, best friend, therapist, and lover. I provide my own happiness, security, support, and safety.

I know that if I were to lose everything and everyone, I’d be completely fine and continue to thrive. Because I am everything I’ll ever need – anything else is a beautiful addition to my life.
